There is no single OSHA rule requiring every employee to take the same safety class every year. Training frequency depends on the specific OSHA standard, the work being performed, and whether employees can still demonstrate the needed knowledge and skills.
Training frequency depends on the hazard
Some standards call for training before an employee is exposed to a hazard. Others require retraining when work conditions change, new equipment is introduced, or an employee’s performance shows a gap. When a standard says “at least annually,” OSHA interprets that as once within each 12-month period.
Build a practical schedule
Start with a task and hazard review. List each job, identify the applicable OSHA rule and client requirements, record the required initial training, and set any refresher dates. Keep rosters, course records, and notes on retraining triggers together. A calendar reminder alone does not prove that the training covered the work employees actually do.
