The Top Five Reasons Why Forklift Training Is a Must-Have

When employees operate heavy equipment, there are many risks that are involved if there’s an absence of proper safety training. Forklifts (Powered Industrial Trucks) Incidents make up about one hundred fatalities and over 36,000 serious injuries in the general industry (manufacturing/warehouse/etc.) and the construction industry every year. OSHA estimates that roughly twenty five percent of workplace accidents are caused by poor training or no training at all.

What exactly causes forklifts (PIT) trucks to be so dangerous? Most forklifts weigh around 9,000 pounds, so you can imagine the damage that can be caused with that amount of tremendous weight. In fact, the weight they carry is almost three times as much as the average automobile in America!

What are the top reasons that make Forklift (Powered Industrial Truck) Training so crucial?

#1. It majorly reduces the risks of worker injuries, fatalities, and general accidents.

#2. It removes a lot of potential risks for damaged property and product.

#3. It mitigates overall financial loss that could happen due to potential OSHA fines or damaged property and goods.

#4. It increases productivity and helps maintain streamlined operations and labor duties. If employees are properly trained (those using the equipment and even those working around it) then there’s bound to be much less room for injuries or property/goods damage.

#5. It ensures that you stay in OSHA Compliance. When OSHA representatives show up at your worksite or warehouse, and you have the Forklift training certifications to provide them, it removes the chance of you receiving OSHA Fines which can be anywhere from a few thousand to several thousands of dollars.

Here at True Safety, our team of professionals have decades of experience in operating forklifts and heavy equipment. We provide hands-on training for each student, while creating high engagement with the class by sharing stories, experiences, and helpful tips. We know that when students have a fun and engaging learning experience they are much more likely to remember the important information.

Our heavy equipment training is a four hour class, and could be longer if it is a larger group of students that we’re teaching. We conduct the full heavy equipment operator experience, so the students feel confident and competent in all angles. After the training is complete, the manager or supervisor of the company will be the one to appoint the employee to use the equipment and deem them a “competent employee” that has permission to use the equipment.

We can travel to your location to train as well! Whether you are in Denver Colorado or somewhere else in the Front Range region in Colorado, we’re happy to book a session at our facility or yours! Please note that we strive to have customers book at least two weeks in advance. This way, we can be the most flexible with your scheduling needs, and can ensure we have a trainer available.
